Yes, this will be another post about SS501!!! So it has been officially 5 years since SS501’s debut. Although there is still some confusion about whether Kim Hyun Joong will pursue an acting career or will stay in SS501, I think there will be official news coming out soon.
To start off, SS501 is pronounced double S 501; meaning Super Star five members united as one forever. They debuted on June 8, 2005 so it has been officially 5 years. SS501’s debut song was called “Warning” afterwards they came out with another single “Snow Prince”. In 2006, they had a little “break” because Heo Young Saeng had a throat condition that required surgery and time to recover. They released their first album called Vol. 1 - S.T 01 Now with 15 tracks including many famous songs such as “Four Chance”, “Warning”, “Unlock”, and “Coward” etc. In 2007, they started to debut in Japan, creating their first official fanclub called “Triple S” on March 25, 2007. On October 10, 2007, they released a Japanese album including their hit song “Kokoro”. In 2008, they returned to Korea and released three new songs called “Deja vu”, “A Song Calling for You” and “Destiny”. SS501 promoted their Deja vu and A Song Calling for You multiple times until they returned to Japan. In the later half of 2008, Kim Hyun Joong was confirmed to play a part in the cast for the drama “Boys Before Flowers. SS501 became more famous after the drama not only in Korea but also overseas. While Kim Hyun Joong was acting, Park Jung Min was performing for a Korean musical called “Grease”. Since two of the members where gone, a subgroup formed. The subgroup included the remaining members, Heo Young Saeng, Kim Kyu Jong, and Kim Hyung Joon, with Heo Young Saeng as their leader. They realeased a mini album with a total of 6 songs; 3 of them were solo songs from each member. They promoted their song UR Man from the mini album. SS501 also sang a few songs for the drama Boys Before Flowers, they were called “Because I’m Stupid”, “Making a Lover”, and “Sometime”. “Because I’m Stupid” became very famous as well and won multiple awards for it. Mid-2009, they realeased a Japanese album called “All My Love” which includes 13 tracks. On July 8, 2009, SS501 released a Mini Album Collection (in Korean) with a solo song from each member. Also with Mini Album was a music drama with our very own actors Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Kyu Jong, and Park Jung Min =). Towards the end of 2009, SS501 released another Mini Album (boy were they busy in 2009) called Rebirth. They promoted the song “Love Like This” and won a few awards from Music Bank. Recently, they just released another Mini Album called Destination. Currently they are still promoting the song “Love Ya”.
