Kim Hyun Joong Leaves SS501

Kim Hyun Joong has confirmed that he will be leaving the double S group. He is assumed to be taking an acting career with KeyEast. Questions now arise of what will happen to the rest of the group. Negativity and sorrow surrounds double S fans as this unexpected twist raves the K-Pop Internet. Will the rest of SS501 be able to move on or will they disband for good?

DSP Entertainment's ending contract with Kim Hyun Joong was prominent in the months leading up to June 7th, 2010. Rumors were common in the time leading up to the leader's leaving, and a path diverged two ways: an unofficial renewal of SS501's contract, or Kim Hyun Joong's departure from SS501. Fans are still in shock by the final outcome as it was "unexpected" or "unpredictable."

SS501's final disbandment has now become an official rumor, sweeping the K-Pop scene. With so many successes, it seems SS501 couldn't disband, but without their leader, what could happen? Fan are upset saying "What happened to five members united as one forever?" It's true, leaving double S may mean disloyalty to SS501, but maybe there was no other possibility for Kim Hyun Joong.

Kim Hyun Joong's new-founded acting career may be a major breakthrough because of his success with the Korean drama Boys Over Flowers, but what about the other members?

SS501 has received numerous awards over the years including "Best Asian Artist" and "Best Dance Group" awards. Their contract expiring was a looming reminder that SS501's time as a group may be over. Their next move is unknown, but fans of SS501, including the authors at KPop Central, are trying to cope with what's happened in the past few days.

"You only have one chance in life... Live hard and earn fame. Help the poor and be respected" (Kim Hyun Joong).
